One work not mentioned is An American Dream, in which Mailer demonstrates that the core American Dream of "everything will turn out all right in the end" is bogus. George Bush is the perfect embodiment of that sentiment, believing that his actions have no dire consequences and somehow a completely myopic future will judge him a giant among American presidents. Believe Mailer fiction before believing Bush reality.
