GI Bill Improvements
Veterans Report - New Bill to Improve Post-9/11 GI Bill "Rep. Bob Filner, D-Ca. introduced a bill (H.R. 950) to remove the requirement for veterans to take at least one class on-campus to receive the monthly housing stipend under the new Post-9/11 GI Bill. This would make the stipend available to all eligible veterans who attend school on a greater than half-time basis. According to reports, the bill doesn't change the tuition and fees payment rate, which is tied to the highest in-state tuition rate for undergraduate level studies. However, this change will ensure that the new Post-9/11 GI Bill will provide equal benefits for vets who are unable to attend traditional classroom college courses.
