FDIC Covering Up Bank Bailouts - And The Banks Get Off Easy - Esquire

As always, our deepest problems have their root in this: we let Ford pardon Nixon. We should have burned this mother down at that point. That established the precedent that's come back to bite us again and again and again: in America, the rules don't apply to everybody. Not even eventually, or reparatively, or secondhand... if some "people" (in the Citizens United sense) do it, it's simply, in practice, not illegal. Letting Tricky Dick off the hook established until the end of time or this republic that there just will not be consequences for the most powerful lawbreakers. No matter how egregious it is, or how pissed we get... that's the rule. Consequences are for peasants and suckers.
