CO Flooding And Secession

Private businesses flew no rescue missions even though they had choppers available. So do the gun nut secessionist Koch stooges want to swap some extra mags for a helicopter ride?

In the Midst of Historic Flooding Colorado Secessionists Deny Climate Change:
...The secession-minded Coloradan’s are angry over new renewable energy standards one county commissioner said were “an attack on oil and gas,” and another claimed “The whole purpose of doing this (secession) is to protect the energy sector that we feel is very much under assault.” The energy sector they are protecting is under the control of the Koch brothers who have spent hundreds-of-millions of dollars to promote climate change denial, and according to the National Weather Service (NWS) and National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA); Colorado’s ‘biblical‘ flooding is in line with climate trends projected to occur due to the effects of manmade global warming...

The NRA Coup

Response To 12 Killed Americans An NRA Coup And Media Disgrace (VIDEO):
...There is a hidden danger here. Many have seen news reports in places like Iraq and Afghanistan where a reported is interviewing one of the locals when shots and bombs are going off. The reported would be flinching and to the locals, it is like nothing is happening. They are desensitized. America has already become desensitized to the gang killings in our urban areas. They see it as something that won’t happen in their neighborhoods. The danger now is that inaction from Congress and a derelict media is widening that desensitization. This is a coup for the NRA.

Police Outrage

“Why did you shoot me? I was reading a book”: The new warrior cop is out of control - Salon.com:
...The raid on Sal Culosi was merely another red flag indicating yet more SWAT team mission creep in America. It wasn’t even the first time a Virginia SWAT team had killed someone during a gambling raid. In 1998 a SWAT team in Virginia Beach shot and killed security guard Edward C. Reed during a 3:00 AM raid on a private club suspected of facilitating gambling. Police said they approached the tinted car where Reed was working security, knocked, and identified themselves, then shot Reed when he refused to drop his handgun. Reed’s family insisted the police story was unlikely. Reed had no criminal record. Why would he knowingly point his gun at a heavily armed police team? More likely, they said, Reed mistakenly believed the raiding officers were there to do harm, particularly given that the club had been robbed not long before the raid. Statements by the police themselves seem to back that account. According to officers at the scene, Reed’s last words were, “Why did you shoot me? I was reading a book...”

O Hate Killed Gun Bill

Sen. Toomey Admits GOP Senate Filibustered Background Checks Because They Hate Obama (Video) - Americans Against the Tea Party:
Earlier today, in an inadvertent moment of candidness, Sen. Pat Toomey (R-Pa.) confirmed America’s worst suspicions about last week’s NRA sponsored Republican senate filibuster of the universal background checks legislation he cosponsored.

“In the end it didn’t pass because we’re so politicized. There were some on my side who did not want to be seen helping the president do something he wanted to get done, just because the president wanted to do it,” Toomey admitted on Tuesday in an interview with Digital First Media editors in the offices of the Times Herald newspaper in Norristown, Pa...

Strange Gun Fact

The Rude Pundit:
...You want a fact? Here ya go: "Data from the Government Accountability Office show that between 2004 and 2010, people on terrorism watch lists tried to buy guns and explosives more than 1,400 times. They succeeded in more than 90 percent of those cases, or 1,321 times." Are you cool with this, average gun owner?..

Payment At The Polls For Gun Vote?

Joe Scarborough: Senators Who Rejected Gun Background Checks Will 'Pay At The Polls' (VIDEO):

...Scarborough went on at length for nearly five minutes, blasting the senators who he said yielded to the NRA. He promised that they would "pay" a price for their vote, saying:

"I'm sick and tired of people on Capitol Hill that I've known for a long time that I've respected, I'm sick and tired of them insulting my intelligence, acting like I am stupid enough and you're stupid enough and 90% of americans are stupid enough to believe that this bill would lead to a national registry! I hear it all the time! Hey, the bill itself puts people in jail for up to 15 years. If they keep these names and start a national registry. It's offensive. It's stupid. And, Mika, you know what? In the long run, all of those people that voted for a more dangerous America are going to pay at the polls. Mark my words. This is going to come up and it's going to hit them in the face..."

Liars Win Again

Obama angrily denounces gun-rights groups as willful liars - Washington Times:
President Obama angrily blamed the defeat Wednesday of his centerpiece gun-control proposal on lies spread by the National Rifle Association, calling it “a pretty shameful day for Washington.”

“The gun lobby and its allies willfully lied about the bill,” Mr. Obama said in the White House rose garden about 90 minutes after the vote. “It came down to politics...”

Biden Fuming At Gun Lickers

Biden: GOP filibuster threat 'embarrassing' - POLITICO.com
Vice President Joe Biden's frustration bordered on anger Tuesday as he scolded Republican senators for their "embarrassing" threats to block votes on gun legislation as the push that began after the Newtown shooting approached its make-or-break moment.

“The climax of this tragedy could be we're not even going to get a vote,” he warned. “Imagine how this makes us look.” The threats, he said, at another point in his remarks, are "an embarrassing thing to say..."

Calling A Spade A Spade

NRA's LaPierre "reminds me of the clowns at the circus," Malloy says - CBS News
Gov. Dan Malloy, D-Conn., whose state was wracked by tragedy in December when a gunman killed 20 small children and six faculty members at an elementary school in Newtown, Conn., slammed the National Rifle Association Sunday on CNN's "State of the Union," saying NRA CEO Wayne LaPierre "reminds me of the clowns at the circus - they get the most attention."

"This guy is so out of whack, it's unbelievable," Malloy said, saying the NRA simply will not compromise "on anything to do with guns."

Instead, Malloy said, the NRA is protecting "the ability of the gun industry to sell as many guns to as many people as possible - even if they're deranged, mentally ill, a criminal background, they don't care. They want to sell guns..."

More NC Craziness

The NC GOP jumps the shark | NC Policy Watch
...The same week the resolution dominated the headlines, Senate Education Committee Chair Jerry Tillman convinced a committee not to require criminal background checks for charter school teachers. The obsession with charters and vouchers to undermine public education is so strong that even children’s safety is apparently not a concern.

A House committee voted to repeal renewable energy standards that more than 80 percent of people in the state support.

Bills were filed to use the state tax code to penalize parents if their children in college have the gall to register and vote in the town where they attend school. The Senate voted to repeal the Racial Justice Act, sending a message that racial bias in the death penalty is not their concern.

Lawmakers approved Governor Pat McCrory’s appointment of a man to the State Board of Education who not only favors voucher schemes but doesn’t seem to think that gay and lesbian students deserve protection from bullying.

McCrory himself held a press conference to announce he was turning over the state Medicaid program that takes care of the most vulnerable people in the state to the profiteers on Wall Street...

Reloading

Dana Loesch Speaks, Remarkably Does Not Shatter All Glass In Thousand-Mile Radius
...Loesch really hit on this point on CNN as well, as if it proves any fucking thing. Yes, Lanza had to reload. Had he only had ten rounds in each clip and had to pause to reload more often, might he have messed up? Might he have been in such a hurry that he jammed his AR-15 and had to clear it, giving some kids a few seconds to run for their lives, or some adult a chance to tackle him? Because despite Loesch’s certainty that anyone can change clips with the alacrity of Kate Beckinsale in an Underworld movie, it seems pretty clear that the more reloading one has to do, the better the chances of a kink developing in one’s plan. But don’t take our word for it, you shrill Gorgon. Ask Jared Loughner, whose rampage in Tucson only ended when he dropped a full clip while reloading. A bystander grabbed it, giving other bystanders a chance to jump on the gunman and subdue him...

High Capacity Mag Indictment

Newtown school gunman fired 154 rounds in less than 5 minutes - chicagotribune.com
...To carry out the second deadliest school shooting in U.S. history, the 20-year-old Lanza used 30-round magazines at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, said Connecticut Governor Dannel Malloy after the previously sealed searches of Lanza's car and home were made public.

"We now know that he left the lower capacity magazines at home," Malloy said in a statement. "This is exactly why we need to ban high capacity magazines and why we need to tighten our assault weapons ban..."

No Rifle For Kelly

Gun store rescinds Mark Kelly's rifle purchase, questions his 'intent' | Fox News
...Store owner Doug MacKinlay said Monday in a Facebook post of his own that he "determined that was in my company's best interest to terminate this transaction prior to his returning to my store."

"While I support and respect Mark Kelly's 2nd Amendment rights to purchase, possess, and use firearms in a safe and responsible manner, his recent statements to the media made it clear that his intent in purchasing the Sig Sauer M400 5.56mm rifle from us was for reasons other then for his personal use," MacKinlay said in the statement...

I don't get the justification.
