I wouldn't say "very few" since I've heard four people bragging about it over the past two election cycles, and I live in a low-density area. Of course, these four gentlemen were Republicans, Christians, with one hard core gun-nut Teabagger. All these gentlemen owned homes here in WNC and in Florida and made a point of voting in all elections. No, I could not pick them out of a line-up --unless everyone was nekkid then I might could.

Swiss voters approved some of the world’s toughest limits on executives’ pay in a referendum, a move critics say could make Switzerland less attractive to multinational corporations.

The initiative against “fat cats,” proposed by Thomas Minder, head of a herbal toothpaste company, was backed by 67.9 percent of the voters today, the government said on its website today. The turnout was 46 percent. Polls, including one by gfs.bern, had signaled that outcome as probable.

The proposal gives shareholders an annual ballot on managers’ pay. It eliminates sign-on bonuses, as well as severance packages and extra incentives for completing merger transactions. The initiative also includes rules punishing executives who violate the terms with as long as three years in jail...

Got that? “Entitlement”? The right to vote is an “entitlement,” like Medicaid or food stamps.

No, it’s not.

Under the 15th Amendment to the Constitution, the “right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any state on account of race, color, or previous condition of servitude.” That amendment was ratified in 1870 under the administration of President Grant, one of my heroes.

As we all know, it was put into effect–after a century of poll taxes, literacy tests, and other gimmicks to keep blacks from voting–only because of the Voting Rights Act of 1965...
