"Patriotism is the last refuge of scoundrels" is an old saw attributed to Samuel Johnson, among others, and is an apt description of much right-wing vaporing. Well, racism is the last refuge of those who lost the performance argument. I never supported Obama, not because of hue, but because he was a gaseous corporate puppet of little accomplishment. Too late, many of my deluded fellows are seeing the fading light. Racism might have urged some to vote for Obama but it won't work twice.
