Kennedy Dies

Dems Pushing for Health Care Reform Say 'Win One for Teddy' - ABC News: "Democrats are hoping that the memory of Sen. Ted Kennedy will revive the Democratic Party's flagging push for health care reform..."

I remember Ted Kennedy refusing to shake Jimmy Carter's hand at the Democratic Convention... what my mama taught me...

i didn't know about refusing to shake carter's hand. i was never crazy about kennedy now i feel vindicated for all the snide remarks i've made over the years.

in my opinion carter was the last honest politician on the planet.

I agree about Jimmy tho he did succumb to O'Kool Aid of late. If the nation had listened to him when he was in office, we certainly wouldn't be facing an energy crisis today. Kennedy and his allies in Congress did everything possible to undermine Carter's presidency, and , of course, the Republicans didn't help Carter either.

Thanks for not idolizing Kennedy, it is sickening to me to see the man who left a girl for dead being lionized once again. He was not what he was presented as, and as a legislator did as much damage as good...NCLB is a nightmare he helped deliver. Can't stand the fact that celebrity of any kind trumps critical thought.

I loathe the Cult of Celebrity prevalent in this nation, Carrie. Whether it is political, entertainment, or just Paris Hilton, it is insane that most people value the opinions of the famous more than those of the informed, and those same people, ill-prepared and generally incompetent at anything other than the narrow specialty that gave celebrity, end up in positions of power and influence. Is it any wonder the modern world is the way it is?
