Death By Label

Are Republicans buddies of Beelzebub´s?

by Alan Bisbort - March 9, 2006

"…now they want to kill us off via our food supply.

Chew on this: A piece of legislation winging its way through the devil´s own House would force states to remove information about potentially dangerous content from all food labels. As it stands, states take consumer protection more seriously than the FDA. So, they´ve added extra disclaimers and warnings to consumers about, say, the presence of arsenic, mercury, alcohol, pesticides, mad cow disease, salmonella, e. coli in the food supply.

The GOP will have none of that. It´s too helpful to consumers and too harmful to the food corporations, their masters. As Americablog put it, ¨Whose side is Congress on here? The GOP loves to talk about self regulation and the laws that are already there but when self regulation means no regulation and the laws and enforcement capabilities have been picked to the bone, none of that means anything anymore. With consumers receiving so little information (due to self regulation) this proposed law is as anti-consumer as they come. Why does the GOP hate American consumers?¨
