Cynics?

The Blog | Stephen Kaus: Professor Kennedy Teaches Plain Talk 101 | The Huffington Post: "...The Democrats should join Kennedy and do everything possible to stop the war in Iraq. It is ridiculous to act as if this bufoon of a President and his delusional henchmen can somehow figure out a way to 'win', and it is criminally cynical to stand back and let them fail at a continued price in American lives, international standing and ability to fight terror. At this distance, no one can figure out a winning strategy for 2008, so they might as well attend properly to the business at hand."

"...and it is criminally cynical to stand back..." yet that is exactly what the Congressional Democrats did (after they spent years trashing Jimmy Carter and helping the Republicans defeat the acursed peanut farmer) when Ronald Raygun was elected. Tip O'Neil and the rest basically rolled over and gave Reagan whatever he wanted. They were of the "if things get bad enough the people will see it our way" school of political thought. Well, if you were in PATCO, things got real bad real fast. The rest of the country slept through the great wealth transfer and now we're on the verge of monarchy-- but let's remember what got it started-- cynics.
