"...Last week, we saw outgoing White House Press Secretary Tony Snow making his pending resignation announcement where he pretty much said that his annual income of $168,000 wasn't enough money to keep his family in the lifestyle they're accustomed to or expect. I have to wonder what happened to all that money Mr. Snow must have made working for Fox News and other gigs before that. Did he not save anything? He even mentioned taking out a loan to support his lifestyle while taking the pay cut to be a government employee. Was he kidding?
It leads me to wonder why we shame the average American for living paycheck to paycheck. Someone making the median income of $42k shouldn't spend all their income, but it's okay for someone making over $100K to spend all they make?
I mean, I come here and bitch and moan about my financial situation. I'm working without a wire these days - no benefits at all. No retirement, no health bennies. Thankfully, The Honey, a school teacher, has decent health and dental benefits. He is building a decent pension. Makes me think I'd better play nice forever because he could dump my ass for some young thang and I'd be so screwed in retirement that I'd have to do sideline work as a granny porn star when I'm not being the best damn gray hair greeter Wal-Mart ever had..."
