On Abortion

From the heart of compassionate conservativism, Cal Thomas:

The best strategy for abortion foes - baltimoresun.com:
"Since the objective of pro-lifers is to substantially reduce the number of abortions in America, a more rapid attainment of that goal may come by lobbying legislatures to pass laws to more fully inform pregnant women about the contents of their wombs."

Want fewer abortions? Then support, rather than opposing, contraception and sex education. But that's not really what the anti-choice crowd is all about.

The power brokers controlling the purse strings are interested in two things: keeping a ready, starving labor supply in the unemployment line, thereby holding wages down, and keeping a ready supply of undereducated, unemployed males waiting in the military recruitment lines, thereby sparing their precious minds and babies of anything even remotely resembling public service.

The sometimes well-meaning followers of the anti-choice demigogues are interested more in power than profit. They are the mob, the witch burners from the Middle Ages, a rampaging body politic whose most joyful moment comes when it can force its will upon others. Whether it is denying a woman control of her own body, denying science stem cells, or stringing gays from barbed wire fences or blacks from tree limbs, they are at their cowardly best when inflicting pain and suffering on others in the name of a Savior who will send them all to Hell for their unrepentant violations of His Ten Commandments. Their God is power, not Love, and power is the province of the Dark Lord, Dick Cheney, and his minion, Satan.
