We're not so sure. Here in Santa Cruz, we don't expect that any politician who backs President Bush or the Iraq war will win over anyone. War opponents, at least many that we've talked to, won't support any candidate who is in support of the Bush policy. We've not met one war opponent who, for example, has supported Bush's 'surge' policy in Iraq as a strategy.
Most don't care about someone's integrity if it means a differing policy. Despite better and more accessible information, most people vote for someone because they agree with positions taken by the candidate. Fewer people vote for a candidate just because he or she is a person of integrity..."
