Ronnie Raygun and The Cold War

From a comment by Justanothercoverup in the post How Ronald Reagan Won the Cold War - The Smirking Chimp:

"A lesson we didn't learn...

For the Republicans, re-writing history is status-quo - as is lying about our current situation. It seems that anything that is supported by the GOP must be examined closely, and once all of the smoke and mirrors are exposed, the harsh reality of right-wing GOP tactics will be attributed historically as the prime reason for the upcoming collapse of the United States.

The Soviets broke themselves economically by fighting a war in Afghanistan they couldn't win - albeit aided by support from the United States when Bin Laden was supposedly fighting on the side of justice. The Russians have never forgot our meddling in the Afghanistan War, as they demonstrate by their weapons research and sales of armaments that are specifically designed to thwart American designed weapons systems.

As we armed the resistance against Russia, we now sow what we have reaped; Russia and China are selling arms to our worst enemies - and now it's us who are stuck in the quagmire of Iraq and Afghanistan, cutting health care, education, and all essential services to help finance a war that cannot be won. We watched and cheered as the Soviet Union imploded, and instead of learning from their mistakes, the Bush administration has decided to take Russia's proven course of destruction - magnify their mistakes ten-fold, and then wonder why the public is screaming for the impeachment of the Bush Administration.

It's too bad the Democrats are now appearing to be as complicit as the GOP - still refusing to uphold the constitution and rule of law, cowards and thieves - more interested in their own political careers than doing the right thing and removing a tyrant and criminal from office."
