The Real Vet Disrespect In 1968

The Small Bit of Weird Everyone Missed During Trump's Infomercial:

...A small bit of weird that went unnoticed in the Trump infomercial on Friday morning was the contention of one of the speakers that the military was not respected in 1986. This person clearly lived through a different 1986 than me. While the public devotionals to the military weren't as ostentatious or as ubiquitous as they are now, it still was the heart of Reagan-era nationalism. Of course, the public disrespect I remember towards the military at the time was when President Amyloid closed all the VA out-patient psych clinics, which increased homelessness among veterans and allowed PTSD among them to go untreated, and also the fact that he left 241 Marines to be killed in Lebanon for no particular reason, and that his people later sold arms to the country that probably sponsored that killing. But that's just me...
